Amazon Jumped the Gun on a Cheaper Version of the Echo Dot
The Amazon Echo Twitter account apparently released a tweet earlier this week linking to an “all-new” Echo Dot for $49.99
However, clicking the link reportedly led to the Amazon page for the Echo Dot released in March. Since the original Echo Dot sold out soon after its release — and is still sold out on Amazon — nobody who clicked the Twitter link could buy any device. Soon after, the tweet was gone.
We’re not sure if Amazon deleted the tweet due to inaccurate information or because the company accidentally scooped its own story, and Amazon didn’t respond to our request for comment.
We think the Amazon Echo is flat-out fantastic, so even more cost-conscious pricing would be terrific news.

Amazon packed everything we love about Alexa and the Amazon Echo into a much smaller, much more affordable package. Plus, it’ll work with your existing audio setup.
